Mark Brown: Chief Information Officer, General Growth Properties

Mark Brown is the Chief Information Officer for General Growth Properties, one of the nation’s largest publicly traded commercial real estate companies. His responsibilities include information strategy, business process improvement, and program and project management.

Mr. Brown started his shopping center career with Simon Property Group, the nation’s largest retail real estate company. Initially in the finance and accounting area, he led the redesign of many critical business processes. He subsequently moved to Information Services, where he led the strategy, design and implementation of software systems.

Mr. Brown subsequently served as the Chief Information Officer for Urban Retail Properties Company, where he participated in the complete overhaul of corporate systems, and the redesign of many business processes, building upon his prior experiences at Simon.

After leaving Urban, he founded and led a boutique consulting firm, MBA Performance Consulting, which provides business process and technology consulting services to the Commercial Real Estate Industry.

Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and an MBA from the University of Indianapolis. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Project Management Institute. He is a regular guest lecturer at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Mr. Brown resides in the greater Chicago area with his wife Susan and their two children.
